Cassie Reveals $20 Million Financial Settlement With Diddy in Court ...Middle East

News by : (Us magazine) -

Cassie confirmed the financial details of her 2024 settlement with ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs after suing him for sexual assault, sex trafficking and physical abuse in 2023.

The “Me & U” singer (real name Casandra Ventura), 38, testified during Diddy’s sex trafficking trial on Wednesday, May 14, that she reached a $20 million settlement with the mogul to resolve the matter before going to civil court, according to The New York Times.

Diddy’s arrest on sex trafficking and racketeering charges came nearly one year after Cassie filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of sexual and physical abuse throughout their on-off 11-year relationship. The mogul, 55, denied her claims in a statement shared by his attorney and has pleaded not guilty in his sex trafficking trial.

“Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations,” Diddy’s lawyer Ben Brafman said at the time.

What Celebs Have Said About Diddy's Infamous Parties Over the Years

One day after the suit was filed, Diddy and Cassie settled out of court. Cassie said in a statement at the time that she’d decided to “resolve this matter amicably on terms [where she had] some level of control.”

“I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support,” she said in December 2024.

In May 2024, CNN published a hotel surveillance video of Diddy physically abusing Cassie in the hallway of a hotel in 2016. He later apologized for his actions – which included the rapper kicking and grabbing the singer — in a video shared via Instagram.

“It’s difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, sometimes you gotta do that,” Diddy said via a May 2024 Instagram video. “I was f***ed up. I mean, I hit rock bottom but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted.”

Diddy went on, “I went and sought out professional help. I’ve been going to therapy, going to rehab. Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

Cassie was called to testify as a star witness as part of Diddy’s ongoing trial in New York City. During the first two days of her testimony, she relayed a litany of allegations about emotional, physical and sexual abuse during her relationship with Diddy. (The former couple dated on and off between 2007 and 2018. She married personal trainer Alex Fine in 2019.)

In one harrowing section of testimony on Wednesday, Cassie said she developed an “off-and-on” opiate addiction — and even once overdosed — during her relationship with Diddy. The singer recalled that she used opioids to come down from party drugs used as part of Diddy’s “freak off” parties — where a litany of sexual abuse is alleged to have taken place.

“Opiates made me feel numb, which is why I relied on them so heavily,” she said in her testimony at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan U.S. Courthouse in New York City. “I didn’t want to feel what was actually going on in my mind, in my life, in real time. It was just an escape for me.”

Breaking Down Diddy’s Legal Troubles and Accusations: A Timeline

Cassie testified that she once hid from Diddy for a week while they were dating after he allegedly beat and stomped on her. She remembered wanting to reach out to her mother while hiding but resisted over fears “it wouldn’t be safe” because Diddy previously threatened her and had “access to guns.”

Since his arrest in September 2024 on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, Diddy has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His four requests for bail were denied by Judge Arun Subramanian. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all allegations made against him. Cassie is scheduled to begin the cross-examination portion of her testimony on Thursday, May 15.
