Navvis and SSM Health are health care providers that work together to provide services in the states of Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

Both parties have agreed to pay out a combined $6,5 million following claims it failed to prevent a data leak in 2023.

The incident, which took place between July 12 and July 25 of that year, compromised sensitive patient information, per Top Class Actions.

The class action claims that Navis and SSM Health failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures that could have prevented the attack.

It is important to note that neither party has admitted to any wrongdoing.

Navvis and SSM Health are paying out the settlement to resolve the claims made against them.

Under the terms of the suit, class members are eligible to receive payments for both ordinary and extraordinary losses of information.

HOW MUCH WILL YOU BE PAID?

Those who were implicated can get up to $2,000 for ordinary losses such as bank fees, communication charges, travel expenses and credit monitoring fees.

On top of this, you are also eligible for an additional payment of up to $5,000 for what is considered extraordinary, or particularly damaging.

This includes any losses incurred from things like fraud or identity theft.

All class members will also be eligible to a pro rata payment from the settlement fund.

This refers to a portion, so if there is any money left from the $6.5 million, it will be shared equally between the claimants.

The fewer people that submit an eligible form, the more cash you could get from the remaining sum.

So, while the maximum amount you can get is $7,000, you could get an extra untold amount in pro rata payments.

All class members are eligible for two years of free credit monitoring through the settlement.

This service includes three-bureau monitoring.

WHO IS ELIGBLE

To be eligible to receive any cash, you need to be able to prove you were directly impacted by the data breach.

This means you have to present documentation showing that you incurred damage as a result.

What's a class-action settlement?

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or 'classes,' a way to band together in court.

These suits are often brought by one or a few people who allege a company or other entity has wronged a large group of people.

When a suit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar complaints to those who filed the suit.

Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue further legal action by accepting money.

These payout agreements frequently include statements by the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.

Pollution, discrimination, or false advertising are a few examples of what can land a class action on a company’s doorstep.

This includes things like bank statements, receipts and credit card statements.

A financial record like this will prove you lost money because of the Navvis and SSM Health attack.

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?

Those who believe they can claim some of the money need to submit a claim form before the deadline.

If you do not do this, you will lose the chance completely.

For this suit, there are several deadlines coming up you need to be aware of.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 6, 2025, and the final approval hearing takes place on July 10.

But the most important date to keep in mind is the claim deadline, which falls on July 7, 2025.

If you do not believe you can reasonably prove your eligibility, you should not submit a form.
