Deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation were led on a slow-speed pursuit that ended with multiple arrests.
They attempted to stop a vehicle suspected of having several code violations at around 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to authorities at the station, but the motorist initially failed to stop.
The patrol car pursued the vehicle until it stopped in the 900 block of Seacoast Drive.
Seacoast DriveThe driver, later identified as Aaron Meza, 33, and his adult male passenger exited but refused to follow instructions, according to the sheriff’s station.
Officials said that Meza displayed what they described as “pre-assaultive indicators” and took a fighting stance, so the deputies employed force to detain him.
During the arrest, two residents came out of their homes and, despite being instructed to stay away, attempted to interfere. The sheriff’s station said that the duo, Abigail Persson, 24, and Jonathan Diaz, 25 were detained after “a minor use of force.”
While Diaz was issued a citation for obstructing an officer and released at the scene, Persson was arrested and booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on charges of resisting arrest by force.
Meza was booked into San Diego Central Jail on charges of felony evading and resisting an officer.
