Egypt welcomed US President Donald Trump’s affirmation made in his speech delivered during his visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday that the Palestinian people have a right to a better future.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry affirmed Egypt’s hope that the US President’s important Gulf tour to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, and the release of an American hostage through Egyptian, Qatari, and US mediation, will contribute to progress toward a ceasefire, the release of all hostages and detainees, and the entry of urgent humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Egypt counts on President Trump’s leadership to achieve regional security and stability, culminating in his efforts aimed at establishing lasting peace and achieving regional stability.
Egypt also stressed the need to support the Egyptian-Qatari-American mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, paving the way for the implementation of the Arab Plan for Early Recovery and Reconstruction.
It urged all parties not to obstruct these efforts and respect the rights of the peoples of the region to peace, prosperity, and development, including that of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
