DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) -- Body camera footage shows the moments leading up to Ohio State women's basketball coach Kevin McGuff being arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle impaired in Dublin last week.

The 55-year-old's defense attorney Rick Piatt represented McGuff in Dublin Mayor's Court for an administrative license suspension hearing. Piatt pleaded not guilty on behalf of McGuff and asked that his driver's license be reinstated.

Magistrate Charles Schneider granted the stay on the administrative license suspension, meaning McGuff is allowed to drive temporarily.

Outside of the vehicle, the video shows McGuff struggle to understand the officer's instructions, which the officer had to explain multiple times. He also struggle standing on one leg during the sobriety test.

When an officer tried to get a breath sample from McGuff, he refused, which led to his license being seized, according to the arrest report.

A spokesperson said the OSU Department of Athletics is aware of the situation.

“The department is in communication with Coach McGuff and monitoring the situation closely,” according to the statement. “This is an ongoing, personal legal matter, and the department will share additional information at the appropriate time.”

McGuff has coached the Buckeyes since 2013-14 and has amassed over 220 wins with the program. Ohio State has appeared in eight NCAA tournaments during McGuff's tenure, with the team's best outing coming in 2023, when the Buckeyes made the Elite Eight.
