Speaking at a press conference marking the end of Moscow’s Victory Day celebrations on Sunday, Putin said Russia would engage in talks “without any preconditions”, appearing to suggest that he wasn’t interested in a ceasefire.
They added that 55 drones were shot down by Ukrainian troops.
The ceasefire demand lost much of its potency after US President Donald Trump made clear he didn’t consider it a prerequisite for the broader peace talks.

He added: “At least they will be able to determine whether or not a deal is possible, and if it is not, European leaders, and the US, will know where everything stands, and can proceed accordingly!”
Lammy hosted European counterparts in London on Monday to hold talks on the threat posed by Russia, which he described as “existential for Europe as a whole”.

Despite the ongoing attacks, Putin and Zelensky’s meeting in Turkey is expected to go ahead.
One Ukrainian official told Axios that Zelensky would be in Turkey on Thursday even if Moscow does not agree to his ceasefire proposal.
