Schumacher appoints Dirk Müller as advisor in F1 return push ...Middle East

Sport by : (F1 News) -

In a strategic move aimed at reigniting his Formula 1 career, Mick Schumacher has appointed experienced German sportscar driver Dirk Müller as his personal advisor.

The 26-year-old son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is hoping the new alliance will bolster his chances of returning to the F1 grid after two years on the sidelines.

Schumacher’s F1 journey began with Haas in 2021, where he raced alongside Nikita Mazepin, later replaced by Kevin Magnussen in 2022.

After losing his seat at the end of the 2022 season, the young German served as Mercedes’ reserve driver in 2023 and 2024 while racing in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine.

Despite his time away from F1’s spotlight, the former Formula 2 champion remains determined to return.

In an interview with German website Motorsport-Magazin, Müller outlined his new role and expressed confidence in Schumacher’s potential.

“I am at Mick’s side in an advisory capacity,” Müller said. “Mick still has his team around him and I am part of it. We got together last year – and now the timing is right.

“Mick is not only extremely talented, but also a great person. I want to help wherever I can.”

Müller’s Confidence in Schumacher’s Growth

Müller, whose connection with the Schumacher family dates back to the early 2000s, highlighted Mick’s evolution as a driver.

“We really got to know each other in the early 2000s when Michael was looking for a team-mate for a football match at his home,” Müller recalled.

“One thing led to another. Michael helped me a lot back then.”

“I have always followed Mick’s stellar career from karting to Formula 1. We have been in contact before, but it was more in the background.

“He has the elbow grease to assert himself in the shark tank of F1,” Müller added.

“Today, Mick is much further along than he was when he entered in 2021. He’s not looking back, only forward.

“He’s gained so much expertise that he’s now in a different position than he was a few years ago when he entered Formula 1 as a Formula 2 champion.”

Müller’s commitment is clear: “I have a very keen interest in supporting Mick.”

With Müller’s guidance and Schumacher’s refined perspective, the goal is clear: a return to the grid - perhaps with the new Cadillac F1 team - but this time with more experience, resilience, and readiness to compete at the highest level.

Whether the partnership will bear fruit remains to be seen, but both parties appear aligned in their belief that Schumacher’s F1 story is not over just yet.
