GAVIN And Stacey may have said its final goodbyes – but Ruth Jones and James Corden’s partnership looks like it’s here to stay.
The long-running comedy series, which aired its finale on Christmas Day 2024, put a feather in its cap at the TV Baftas as Ruth Jones took home an award for her portrayal of bolshy Nessa Jenkins one last time.

But speaking after picking up the Bafta statue, Ruth has teased that she and James Corden – who co-created and wrote Gavin and Stacey with her – could be set for something new.
She said: “I love working with James Corden, I really do, and I hope that we will carry on working together.
“I think we will. We will, because we just both, like, sort of sitting in a room together. We do a lot of napping, but we do write as well when we get going and, yeah, I just love working with him.”
“I genuinely didn’t think I was going to win,” Ruth said of her award. “It was such a strong category, and the other nominees are so incredible.
“I even took my shoes off because I was sort of settling in for the night. So it was a real shock, but so lovely.”
“I’ve had a 17 year journey with this character, which is quite a rare thing, I guess, and to have worked with the people that I’ve worked with on the show over this period of time, cast, the crew, the production team, you know, everybody’s just been such a joy to work with,” she added.
“But I think it’s just been a really lovely rounding up of this astonishing nearly 20 years and working with James.”
In the meantime, Ruth is busy working on the latest Harlan Coben adaptation for Netflix, Run Away, which is set for release next year.
She is starring opposite Cold Feet star James Nesbitt in the eight-part series, which is currently filming in Manchester.
Unfortunately that leaves little room for celebration of her new shiny hardware.
“I’m playing a private investigator called Elena Ravenscroft, and so I’m gonna be getting in a car and heading up to Manchester after this because I’m filming,” she told us. “I’m in the Makeup chair at 6am tomorrow!”
“I’m not gonna miss out on a free meal. I’ll have a bit of a nosh, and then I’ll head off,” the star joked of her celebrations.
