TNT’s hiatus from the ring was as a result of surgery on his hand, which he was struggling with before the fight.
And the Briton suffered what appeared to be a similar injury during his clash.
“The hand is going to be a problem,” Fury Sr said.
“He said to me at the end of the third round, ‘this hand is gone’. We didn’t want to say too much.
“We didn’t want the opposition to know there was a problem.
“But again, the kid [Hanjalic] was six fights and five wins. This man was in incredible shape.”
Fury didn’t get the stoppage in the end, and was clearly hampered by another injury.
It has been a tough period for the Briton who has suffered from his lay-off.
But he is back on the blazing trail and called out Jake Paul after the final bell.
Fury’s dad John issued an update on his injuryStephen Dunkley/Queensberry PromotionsHe shouted: “Jake Paul’s a b**** and he’s running scared.
“Hey Jake, the hand is fixed now baby, the hand is fixed.
“I fought a guy in here tonight who’s had more than 100 amateur fights, an experienced hitter and he’s as tough as teeth.
“If Jake Paul wants to step inside the ring, I guarantee next time, I will knock you spark out.
“I’ve had two years out the ring, this is after two years, I’ll knock that bum out whenever he wants it.”
It remains unclear if Fury will be able to fulfil his call-out to Paul.
The fighter from the famous boxing dynasty has had a lot on his plate outside of the ring.
But he will hope he is back on the right track and can compete again in 2025.
