In what could be a big blow for Delhi Capitals, Mitchell Starc might not return when the IPL 2025 restarts. The Australian pacer arrived in Sydney on Sunday after the league was suspended for a week due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. With ceasfire announced between the two countries, the BCCI has directed all franchises to assemble at their respective home grounds by May 13.

As per Australian media Channel 9, Starc and his wife arrived in Sydney on Sunday from Singapore. The reporter on air claimed that Starc’s manager had hinted that he is unlikey to return to India when IPL 2025 restarts. Stoinis, Inglis were some of the other Australian players who landed back home.
“Mitchell Starc just landed moments ago with his wife at Sydney airport from Singapore. While he didn’t talk to us, his manager has confirmed with us that he may not be going back,” the reporter said.
Starc has been spearheading the pace unit for DC in IPL 2025. He managed to take 14 wickets from 12 matches before the league was suspended temporarily.

According to the Indian Express, all franchises except the Punjab Kings (PBKS) have been verbally informed to report back to their respective venues by Tuesday. Punjab Kings, whose home base in Dharamsala was the site of last week’s abandoned game, are likely to be assigned a neutral venue due to ongoing logistical concerns.
“All franchises have been told to inform its team to report to their respective destination by Tuesday. Punjab will have a neutral venue, so their destination is yet to be confirmed. The board is planning to have more double headers so that they can finish the IPL as per its scheduled day,” a source in the Indian board confirmed to the Indian Express.
