Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the Europa League final on Thursday night. That competition has been their sole focus for months, as Spurs chase a first trophy since 2008.

Crystal Palace are also focused on a final – the FA Cup in their case. Who will come out on top when they travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace predictions

It is fair to say that both Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace have bigger fish to fry than their Premier League clash this weekend.

Spurs booked their spot in the Europa League final on Thursday, beating Bodo/Glimt 2-0 away from home. That secured a 5-1 aggregate victory in the semi-finals, with Manchester United now the only thing standing between Tottenham and a first trophy since 2008.

In many ways this has been a dismal season for Spurs, who could yet finish 17th in the league. But a piece of silverware would make it all worthwhile.

The north Londoners have been starved of tangible success for years now and they are desperate to end their trophy drought.

A win against United on May 21 would also see Ange Postecoglou’s side qualify for the Champions League. It is hard to overstate how massive that match is for Tottenham, even more so than their opponents.

Palace, for their part, have history in their sights. Arguably the biggest English club to have never won a major trophy, the Eagles will take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final next weekend.

Palace are clear underdogs for the Wembley showpiece, yet City are still not as strong as they once were and they lost last year’s final against the odds. It would be a mistake to write Oliver Glasner’s team off.

Both sets of supporters will be in a joyous mood on Sunday, although the outcome of the game does not really matter for either team.

Palace are no longer in the mix for European qualification via the Premier League, while Tottenham dropped out of that particular conversation long ago.

It goes without saying that Postecoglou and Glasner will want their teams to finish as high up the table as possible, but silverware is now the priority for both clubs.

Tottenham have won five of the last six head-to-head clashes between this pair, although Palace were victorious in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Since that 1-0 triumph in late October, Palace have the ninth-best record in the division (Spurs, incidentally, rank 17th). The south Londoners started the campaign slowly but have made amends since then.

However, Palace have lost each of their six visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium up to now.

Crystal Palace to win

To the surprise of many, Glasner did not shuffle his pack for Crystal Palace’s trip to Arsenal last month, which came just days before their FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa.

We should expect Palace to once again line up with a strong side on Sunday, whereas Postecoglou is more likely to rotate after Tottenham’s midweek exertions.

That is one reason why the Eagles look like excellent value at 6/4. Another is their away record, which is the ninth-best in the division overall. In their last eight matches at opposition grounds, Palace have collected 14 points – behind only Brentford and Arsenal.

Tottenham have lost six of their last nine league games and that could easily become seven in 10 this weekend.

Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score

Tottenham cannot be accused of failing to entertain the neutrals. For better or worse, Postecoglou’s side have been fun to watch all season long.

That is borne out in the numbers. Their 35 games have featured an average of 3.43 goals, the highest figure in the Premier League.

Both teams have scored in 63 percent of Tottenham’s league games, including each of the last five.

Crystal Palace will fancy their chances of finding the back of the net, especially if Postecoglou rests Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Goals are on the cards in this London derby.

Ebere Eze to score or assist

Ebere Eze frustrated Crystal Palace fans in the first two-thirds of the season. He often held onto the ball for too long and his end product was unreliable.

He has found form at the perfect time, though. In the past few weeks Palace fans have seen the Eze of old.

That is to the benefit of the whole team. The England international is a difference-maker when he is on song.

Eze has eight direct goal involvements in his last nine appearances in all competitions. Tottenham will struggle to keep him quiet.
