Gout Gout has revealed Noah Lyles has taken him under his wing, with the US star even calling him ‘Little Bro’.
Teenage sensation Gout has taken the athletics world by storm over the past year with his frightening times, drawing comparisons to the legendary Usain Bolt.
Gout Gout has been tipped to dominate the field of sprinting for years to comeGettyHe broke Bolt’s Under-16 200m record last year, and then smashed the Australian national record, held for 56 years by Peter Norman, with a 20.04 second effort.
At the same competition, the 17-year-old set a new Oceanic record in the 100m, clocking a winning time of 10.17 seconds in the final
Gout’s exploits have seen him tipped to dominate sprinting in a similar way to eight-time Olympic gold medallist Bolt, who has said of the youngster: “He looks like young me.”
It isn’t just the Jamaican who has taken notice of the Aussie either, with Paris 2024 100m champion Lyles also growing fond of him.
The pair’s sponsorship deals with Adidas saw them attend a training camp together in Florida in February, and they have clearly developed a bond since then.
After working together on the track, Gout and Lyles appeared on a podcast together, where the teenager vowed to push the US star all the way at the World Athletics Championships in September.
And Gout has revealed the two remain on close terms and exchange messages, with Lyles even having an affectionate nickname for him.
On their relationship, he told Fox Sports Australia: “He calls me ‘Little Bro’, so we definitely have a great connection.
“Obviously, I gave him a nudge, I said in the podcast (earlier this year), I told him I’d be running up his a**, for sure.
“It’s definitely great. He messages me occasionally and I tell him ‘Congratulations’ and stuff like that. He’s a great guy.”

When asked about the areas for improvement in his fledgling sprint career, the Queensland native admitted he hoped to fill out over the coming years, something his US training partner had noticed.
Gout said: “Some of it is definitely physical. I’m still a teenager and haven’t grown into my body yet.
“Still getting my grown man’s strength, as Noah would say, and just working on those little aspects, a couple of things at the start, gaining power and strength.
“Those little things really take you to the next level.”
With room for growth and time on his side, Gout was open in admitting his big career ambitions, as he detailed his plans to emulate the fastest man alive.
AFPGout will be targeting a first senior international medal at the World Championships[/caption] He will no doubt target Bolt’s 100m world record of 9.58 seconds further down the lineGettyHe admitted: “The goal is winning the Olympics and winning World Championships.
“Honestly, dominating like Bolt did. I think that limit is reachable for me.”
The youngster will begin his pursuit of Bolt’s legacy when he makes his debut at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September.
And with the long-term goal of success at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and a home Games in Brisbane in 2032, Gout admitted his impressive times had given him more than enough encouragement for the future.
The athletics starlet added: “The times I’ve run so far could potentially make it into finals, make the top four, top five, top six.
“Just getting better and aiming for LA obviously would be a great achievement and trying to be on that podium running against [Letsile] Tebogo, Noah, [Lachlan] Kennedy, all those athletes.
“That’s definitely a goal in mind and keep aiming for the top.”
