Arkansas and LSU are among the top 10 teams in the country, and on Friday, the 2 SEC foes will take the field in Baton Rugee for their second-to-last series of the season.
Both teams have unveiled their pitching matchups for the weekend. On Friday, the Razorbacks will send left-hander Zach Root (6.3, 3.95 ERA) to the mound, and he’ll face Tigers lefty Kade Anderson (6-1, 3.57), a preseason All-SEC first-teamer.
Saturday will see Arkansas turn to righty Gage Wood (1-0, 3.77), while LSU will start a right-hander of its own in Anthony Eyanson (7-2, 3.16).
The Tigers, at 38-11 and ranked No. 3 in the D1Baseball.com poll, dropped 2 of 3 to Texas A&M in their last conference series, splitting a doubleheader on Saturday before falling on Sunday. Their game on Tuesday against Grambling State was rained out.
The Razorbacks, meanwhile, are 40-9 and sit at No. 7, riding high after a sweep of Texas in Fayetteville. They took the first game 9-0 behind Root’s career-high 11 strikeouts before winning the next 2 by finals of 6-1 and 13-8.
In the conference standings, Arkansas sits in 2nd, 2 games behind Texas. LSU is 2 games back of the Razorbacks and tied with Georgia for 3rd.
