Jadeveon Clowney will be looking for a new home in 2025.
The Carolina Panthers have released the former number one overall pick of the 2014 draft.
Clowney played one season for the PanthersGettyClowney is coming off his lone season in Carolina having finished with 5.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss and 11 quarterback hits in 14 games.
He had originally signed a two-year, $20million deal back in March 2024, and was owed $10m for 2025 if he were to be on the roster.
Instead, the Panthers have chosen to cut the 32-year-old and will save $7.8m against the cap in 2025.
Clowney will be going on his sixth team in seven years if and when he signs with another team.
The good news for Clowney is that teams are always looking for pass-rushers, and the three-time Pro Bowler still has more than enough juice even at his age.
He has played in a total of 140 career games for the Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and Carolina.
He has 58 sacks under his belt, with 108 tackles for loss and 138 quarterback hits.
Most importantly for Clowney, he has amassed over $95m in career earnings over the course of his 11-year career.
While the production may not have ever equated to his draft billing at number one overall, the dollar signs sure have.
And he can still add to that with a few more seasons in mind.
