Taking to social media platform X, Sachin wished Rohit the best for his future endeavours following his retirement from Tests. The Master Blaster recalled that he had presented Rohit his maiden Test cap in Kolkata in 2013 and said that he still remembered the moment where the two shared the stand recently at the Wankhede stadium.

Through his 67-Test career, the Hitman amassed 4301 runs, averaging 40.57, including 12 hundreds and 18 half-centuries. Sharma’s career as a captain didn’t end on a bright note as India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series to Australia 3-1.
Regardless, Rohit has guided India to one World Test Championship final. His form in 2024-25, especially the latter half, was quite miserable. Perhaps this is what prompted Sharma to announce his retirement. Besides, he had reportedly requested the selectors to try himself out in the first two matches against England. However, he was refused.
