The Essex-born Tottenham and Crystal Palace great has accepted the job back home at Canvey Island FC in the seventh tier of English football.
Taylor has kept his management career going at his first ever clubGetty His most glamorous job was with EnglandGettyThe 72-year-old’s storied time in football in fact started out at the club’s academy as a player over 50 years ago.
And he now returns to the dugout after a two year absence, to continue his extensive coaching career.
Taylor first began his management journey in 1986 and has been in charge of 21 different teams.
Most glamorous among them was the England national side, who he coached for one game away against Italy in November 2000.
Taylor was in post at the Three Lions switched from Kevin Keegan to Sven Goran Eriksson, and left one important mark.
That match at Juventus’ old Stadio Delle Alpi was settled with Gennaro Gattuso scoring the only goal of the game, but David Beckham was the story back home.
Aged just 25, he was given the captain’s armband for the first time of what would be an iconic stint leading out England.
The decision mirrored Taylor’s youth-based philosophy with the national side, where he also fulfilled roles as coach of the under-20s and twice the under-21s.
It wasn’t just Beckham that was trusted that day either, but youngsters Gareth Barry, Jamie Carragher, Kieron Dyer, Rio Ferdinand and Emile Heskey.
But the Beckham call made the most news, as it may well have upset a section of the fanbase.

The abuse came despite him assisting both goals, and he responded with a middle finger to plunge himself into hot water.
However, Taylor must have liked what he saw, and Eriksson too who left the armband with Beckham for his entire tenure from 2000 to 2006.
Taylor took the caretaker role despite being contracted to Leicester at the time where he’d had his greatest success as a manager.
His spell with the Foxes was his only Premier League stint, where he earned a Manager of the Month award and even briefly topped the division.
