After the health secretary and the organization's commissioner announced their intention to remove synthetic food dyes from the country's food supply, the fan-favorite chicken brand began "proactively reformulating" any of their food products that contain petroleum-based synthetic dyes—though their beloved chicken nuggets do not use the dyes in question.

The majority of the brand's retail products do not currently include the dyes in concern, King said on an earnings call. It's not clear which products in the brand's lineup are undergoing reformulation, though King did confirm that nothing included in school nutrition programs include petroleum-based synthetic dyes.

Kennedy previously attributed his desire to remove the additives from the food supply to an effort to address rising rates of chronic childhood diseases, ADHD, and food allergies—though he cited no evidence to suggest that there was any relation.
