Now that the draft is over, where does the Denver Broncos 2025 draft class rank compared to the rest of the league?
The Broncos are finally competitive again, and they didn’t have to go find the next quarterback. He’s already on the team thanks to last year’s draft, and his name is Bo Nix.
But being competitive puts an even more heavy emphasis on drafting well. The teams who have the best drafts are most likely to make the playoffs and then win once they’re in.
Where does the Denver Broncos 2025 draft class rank?
The Broncos rank in the bottom half of the league for their 2025 NFL Draft class per multiple media outlets, though most fans know it’s too early to know for sure.
Denver, while under George Paton, always seems to have an interesting time during the annual selection process. His classes usually feature one sure-fire starter up top, with a second or third-round reach, and some late-round fliers.
This year, Payton and Sean Payton took Jahdae Barron as the team’s first pick even though they are incredibly deep at cornerback. Then, they reached on both RJ Harvey and Pat Bryant on Day 2 and some “we’ll see” defensive line picks late.
Personally, it was a less than impressive draft class to me. I gave the Broncos a C- overall; harsh, but fair. Running back and wide receiver were their two biggest needs, and while they got one of each, better players were available when they took Harvey and Bryant. But, if Paton and Payton love how their picks fit in terms of size, experience, etc. then so be it.
Sharp Football gave the Broncos a C, FOX Sports handed out a C+ grade, while Pro Football Focus gave Denver a B.
Let’s see where the Denver Broncos 2025 draft class ranks compared to the rest of the league.
The Athletic, 28th
While they don’t go into why the Broncos were so far down the list, The Athletic said Harvey is their favorite pick of the bunch. It seems lots of folks following the NFL are excited for the possibility of what Payton’s offense could provide to the talented and speedy running back.
CBS Sports, 28th, B-
CBS gave the Broncos the same fifth-worst ranking of the 2025 NFL Draft. As they explain, “Pat Bryant ran a 4.61 at the combine, and that’s the speed he plays at, too.” 4.61 is too slow for a starting receiver in the NFL, but at least Bryant has reliable hands.
NFL.com, 22nd, B-
This ranking is closer to middle-of-the pack, and they raved about Barron. But, ” Another pick that took many by surprise: Pat Bryant. The Broncos had a need at the receiver position, but they drafted Bryant far earlier than most anticipated.” See: Reach.
USA TODAY, 11th, B+
This ranking is the outlier of the bunch, to be sure. Nate Davis likes the Harvey pick for his athleticism, but wonders if the 5’8″ back can carry the ball 20-plus times a game in the NFL.
Average rank: 22.3
Ultimately, we’ll have to see how these guys play when the regular season kicks off in September. Ideally, you like to find three starters per draft class, although Denver’s is a bit smaller than some years, with seven total picks.
Barron will be a starter, likely at nickel. And because there’s not much competition at the position, Harvey will start, too. But can he be a 3-down back? Everyone else on the list is a depth piece, except Aussie Jeremy Crawshaw, who will almost certainly start at punter.
