Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet voted to expand the war against Hamas in Gaza, with plans to seize the entire territory and hold it.
The plan will be gradual over several months, the reports said. Security cabinet minister Zeev Elkin said this leaves the door open for ceasefire and hostage release talks.
Israel already controls around a third of Gaza.
Israel has imposed a total blockade of aid into Gaza, with humanitarians warning that food is now running out.
