Formula 1 fans will enjoy 16 more years of Miami Grand Prix magic thanks to a landmark 10-year extension signed with promoter South Florida Motorsports.

The new deal ensures the race will remain on the F1 calendar through 2041, making it the sport’s longest-contracted event.

From its vibrant fusion of high-speed racing and Miami’s cultural flair to its billion-dollar economic boost, the Grand Prix has cemented itself as a global spectacle, and the new agreement signals F1’s unwavering commitment to its American adventure.

Built around the iconic Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, the 5.41km Miami International Autodrome – with 19 corners, three straights, and speeds topping 320km/h – delivers heart-pounding action.

Off the track, the event’s festival-like atmosphere, packed with entertainment and Miami’s signature energy, has drawn fans from across the U.S. and beyond.

In 2024, a record 275,000 spectators flocked to the sunny venue, cheering McLaren’s Lando Norris to his maiden Grand Prix win. The race also shattered U.S. TV records, with 3.1 million viewers tuning in, proving Miami’s magnetic pull.

A Vision for the Future: Leadership and Legacy

F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali hailed the extension as a pivotal moment for the sport’s growth in the U.S.

“In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar, an extraordinary example of quality and vision that truly represents the spirit and ambition of Formula 1 in the United States,” commented the Italian.

“Extending this agreement until 2041 is a strategic milestone of enormous importance, which strengthens our presence in America and consolidates the ever-deepening bond with our fan base there, which is constantly growing and passionate like never before.

“Miami is not only an extraordinary city, but also a truly global sporting hub, energetic, dynamic and culturally vibrant.

“All this would not have been possible without the far-sighted vision and tireless commitment of Stephen Ross and Tom Garfinkel, to whom I extend my sincere gratitude for the leadership, support and dedication with which they have helped transform the Miami Grand Prix into a world-class event.”

An Extraordinary Milestone for All

Tom Garfinkel, Managing Partner of the Miami Grand Prix, echoed Domenicali’s enthusiasm, emphasizing the milestone’s significance after just three races.

“Securing a 10-year extension with Formula 1 through 2041 is an extraordinary milestone for all of us at South Florida Motorsports and a true testament to the hard work of our team, the strength of our partnerships, the support of our community and the growth of the sport in the United States,” he said.

“To have been granted this extension after only our third event speaks to what we have felt from the very beginning – the Miami Grand Prix is here to stay.”

Garfinkel expressed gratitude to Domenicali and Hard Rock Stadium owner Stephen Ross, adding,

“From day one, our goal has been to create a world-class race that also reflects the spirit of Miami — vibrant, inclusive and culturally significant. This long-term commitment allows us to continue innovating, investing in the fan experience and deepening our impact across South Florida.”

The Miami Grand Prix’s history is already rich with memorable moments. Max Verstappen claimed victory in the inaugural 2022 race and doubled down in 2023, while Norris’s 2024 triumph marked a career-defining moment.

As the event looks to 2041, its blend of racing pedigree and Miami’s electric vibe promises to keep fans coming back. With South Florida Motorsports at the helm, the Grand Prix is poised to build on its legacy, ensuring that the Magic City remains a cornerstone of F1’s global stage for decades to come.
