Bucky McMillan is building out his first Texas A&M roster, and he landed another piece of the puzzle on Thursday night.

The Aggies have landed a commitment from Texas Tech transfer big man Federiko Federiko. The 6-foot-11 forward made the announcement on his Instagram page. Federiko previously spent 1 season at the junior college level, 2 seasons at Pitt, and 1 season at Texas Tech.

Federiko also has a background in the international circuit. He was born in Cairo, Egypt, and raised in Helsinki, Finland. Federiko participated in the 2019 FIBA U18 European Championship while representing Finland.

He played his final season of high school ball in Pennsylvania and then began his college career at Northern Oklahoma, where he averaged 11.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks to earn an NJCAA All-America honorable mention nod.

In 2022, he signed with Pitt and would spend the next 2 seasons as the Panthers’ primary starter in the frontcourt. In 68 appearances from 2022-24, Federiko made 53 starts while averaging 5.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game.

Last season, he transferred to Texas Tech and joined a talented frontcourt. His minutes dropped to a career-low 18.9 per game, but Federiko remained effective in his limited role. He averaged 5.1 points, 4.5 boards, and 0.8 blocks per contest.

If his role expands under McMillan, Texas A&M should have a toolsy big man to man the middle. At Tech, Federiko shot 74% from the field. In his first season in the ACC, Federiko ranked inside the top 5 in the conference for offensive rebounding rate and block rate. In his second season in the ACC, he ranked top 3 in both categories.

Federiko becomes the eighth known transfer to pledge to McMillan’s A&M squad. He joins guard Marcus Hill (NC State), guard Duke Miles (Oklahoma), guard Josh Holloway (Samford), guard Jacari Lane (North Alabama), forward Zach Clemence (Kansas), forward Mackenzi Mgbako (Indiana), and center Jamie Vinson (Texas).
