During the seventh inning of the Pirates home game on April 30, a man fell from his seat on the 21-foot-high Clemente Wall at PNC Park, landing in right field in the middle of a play.
The game was paused while medical personnel attended to the fan, who is said to still be "in critical condition" at Allegheny General Hospital, according to a statement from the Pittsburgh Public Safety agency.
While baseball fans everywhere are now sending thoughts and prayers to the man and his family, many people have used the opportunity to speak out about the safety precautions put in place at the Pirates' home field, as well as other MLB fields across the country.
"Now that this has happened you need very serious safety upgrades.@PhilliesCBP may also want to follow suit for some of those ledge areas," someone else added.
