This incident began shortly after 1:00 p.m. Eastern time and lasted for several hours, causing widespread frustration among users who rely on these applications for daily functions . The implications of such outages extend beyond inconvenience; they can affect productivity and communication in both personal and professional contexts.
The outage prevented people from accessing services connected to iCloud like Photos and iMessage such that they couldn't sync or download.
The problems began around 11:30 a.m. Pacific/2:30 p.m. Eastern.
Apple Status page revealed a mix of products went down, including iCloud Web Apps, Find My, Photos, and more.
While reports slowed down from an initial peak of around 900 at 12:30 p.m. Pacific, it was a steady decline. And the Apple status page didn't officially return to normal until around 4:15 p.m. Pacific.

Earlier today, there was a separate outage issue that impacted Apple’s business users, with Apple Business Essentials, Apple Business Manager, and Apple School Manager all affected.
Those issues were marked by Apple as resolved around 2:30 p.m. However, it’s possible the new outages have a related root cause.
