Real Madrid forward Sidi Gueye commits to Arizona ...Middle East

Sport by : (Arizona sports) -

Real Madrid forward Sidi Gueye has committed to join head coach Tommy Lloyd and the Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.

“Coach Lloyd is one of the top coaches in college and he has coached many international players before,” Gueye told Givony. “He made me feel comfortable and showed me how I can improve and produce in his system.”

The 6-foot-11 forward, who has a 7-foot-4 wingspan and debuted for Real Madrid at just 17 years old last October, is expected to be one of the youngest players in college basketball this upcoming season.

I'm very high on new Arizona commit Sidi Gueye (2007). He'll be one of my favorite bigs in his #nbadraft class.

Gueye now heads to Tucson with other international players already on the roster, including Motiejus Krivas (Lithuania), Anthony Dell’Orso (Australia) and Dwayne Aristode (Netherlands).

Sidi Gueye addition marks latest change to Arizona Wildcats’ roster

Gueye marks the latest addition to the Wildcats’ ranks, joining high-profile freshmen Koa Peat, Brayden Burries, Bryce James and Aristode. Former Harvard point guard Evan Nelson is also headed to Arizona through the transfer portal.

There’s been plenty of departures for Lloyd’s squad, too, with KJ Lewis (Georgetown), Henri Veesaar (North Carolina), Emmanuel Stephen (UNLV) and Conrad Martinez (High Point) heading elsewhere via the portal.

The Wildcats also saw Caleb Love and Trey Townsend run out of college eligibility, while Carter Bryant is reportedly entering the 2025 NBA Draft.

Bryant can still maintain his college eligibility by withdrawing his name from draft consideration by May 28.

The Wildcats are coming off a Sweet Sixteen run in the NCAA Tournament that came to an end behind a 100-93 loss to Duke.
