Earlier this month, it was reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that Carr has a shoulder injury that will affect his status for the upcoming season.

However, several NFL insiders, including The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, speculated that the reports regarding Carr’s injury were coming from the 34-year-old’s camp, putting pressure on the Saints to move on from him.

Russini even called the situation “fishy” and seemed to believe that Carr’s injury wasn’t real.

Over the weekend, the four-time Pro Bowler Carr brought up his shoulder injury during a church service on Sunday.

The 34-year-old confirmed that he indeed has a shoulder injury, that he’s been in constant talks with the Saints, and sent a message to the media, including ESPN, about the untrue rumors.

“I hate that I have to say this, but I have to say this. Yes, I have a shoulder injury, despite what ESPN says and what some lady on a podcast might think,” Carr said.

“I have an MRI report to prove it. The team knows about it, we’ve been in constant communication.

“There’s nothing wrong, we’re figuring it out.

“We’re going to go forward with that, is that O.K.?”

Carr continued, saying that he’s been dealing with people “lying about me” and questioned why he has to deal with the falsehoods.

Insiders questioned the timing of Carr’s reported injury because there wasn’t an explanation behind how he hurt himself.

Last week, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis shared that the team was waiting for “clarity” concerning Carr’s shoulder.

The Saints then decided to draft a quarterback in the second round of last week’s NFL Draft, selecting Louisville product Tyler Shough with the No. 40 overall pick.

The move was likely made due to the uncertainty regarding Carr and if he does miss time in the 2025 season.
