Warmer weather was expected for most of the week in the coastal areas and valleys of San Diego County, with some cooling and showers expected next weekend, forecasters said Monday.
The warming will follow a cool and rainy spring weekend.
“Dry and warmer weather, with marine layer low clouds each night and morning in the coastal areas and valleys, will follow through most of next week. The marine layer deepens and temperatures begin to cool a little as we approach next weekend,” said the National Weather Service’s San Diego office.
“Another low pressure system will bring unseasonably cool and windy conditions for next weekend into next Monday, with chances for showers on Sunday.”
Desert areas will be mostly clear and sunny, with moderate winds up to 25 mph calming down by mid-week, with highs ranging in the mid-80s to low 90s.
Mountain areas will see some gusty winds until at least Tuesday, with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s.
Tuesday’s San Diego surf forecast includes a high-risk rip current, with surf from 3 to 6 feet and mixed south swell from 210 degrees and west swell from 270 degrees. A beach hazards statement will be in effect until at least Wednesday evening for the elevated surf.
“No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Friday, though strong winds, possibly gale-force in the outer waters, could develop Friday night into Saturday,” marine forecasters said.
