COSTCO has changed an essential grocery item, causing some controversy among shoppers.
The adjustment was made recently after a longstanding partnership between the warehouse retailer and another brand ended.

That changed during an October earnings call when Kimberly-Clark CEO Mike Hsu mentioned that the company had ended its relationship with Costco to spend time working on its premium products.
Costco later signed a new agreement with personal care product company First Quality to make a new version of the Kirkland Signature diapers.
Recently, a rollout of the updated diapers was initiated, per the Daily Mail.
After testing it out, some customers claimed they noticed a major difference immediately, arguing that the material was much thinner and less absorbent than before.
BUYER BACKLASH
“Oh my god, it’s so cheap,” mother and TikToker Mel (@lifewithh_mel) exclaimed in a recent video comparing the Kimberly-Clark and First Quality versions on TikTok.
“This is really upsetting — right away I can tell the difference…”
Mel held the two diapers up next to each other and called the First Quality Kirkland Signature diaper “paper thin.”
“I think I’m going to return these,” she added.
“Costco what is going on?”
She wasn’t alone in the complaints either, with several Costco members issuing critiques in the comments section of the clip and some going as far as to threaten to cancel memberships.
“Omg, those are way worse than I thought they’d be!” a fellow parent and shopper exclaimed.
“I LOVED Costco diapers. That’s so sad,” another wrote.
“We just cancelled our membership bc all I loved abt Costco was the diapers,” a third added.
The U.S. Sun has contacted Costco for comment on the complaints.
Costco membership sharing guidelines
Costco has strict rules for membership use that shoppers must follow and they've been cracking down on offenders in recent years.
Primary Member Use: Only the primary cardholder can use this Costco membership card. Sharing it for purchases is not allowed as the photo on the card must match the person using it. Household Card: Each primary member can add one free household cardholder who lives at the same address. This person will receive their own membership card and can shop at Costco independently. Guest Policy: Members can bring up to two guests per visit to Costco. However, only the member can make purchases. Guests must be accompanied by the member. Authorized Cardholder: For an additional fee, you can add an authorized cardholder, such as a family member or friend, who doesn’t reside at your address. They will receive their own card and can shop independently.Credit: Costco
SHAKEN UP
It’s certainly not the first change that has caused controversy from Costco fans in the past few months.
Costco also recently confirmed it would end another longtime partnership with Pepsi in its food courts and replace it with Coca-Cola products.
The warehouse retailer’s over 600 stores nationwide have already begun the switch after 12 years with Pepsi.
Some customers were supportive in posts online, noting “good move Costco” and “about time, Pepsi is gross.”
The opposite response was also apparent.
“Ugh, Pepsi is sooooo much better. This is a same,” a Costco member lamented.
“They should stick with Pepsi,” said another.
Costco’s beloved hot dog combo could also face a significant price increase to $4.55 if the warehouse retailer makes a crucial move.
A cult-classic dinner staple at the chain was also boycotted recently over “gross” texture found by some customers.
