NFL FANS feared for Shedeur Sanders’ future after spotting the mood in the Cleveland Browns’ front office when drafting him.

Quarterback Sanders had been projected to be snapped up in the first round of the NFL Draft, which started on Thursday night in Green Bay.

The Browns’ draft room appeared far from thrilled after picking Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round It seemed as though Sanders would never get draftedGetty Sanders was previously at Colorado BuffaloesReuters

But the Colorado star, son of two-time Super Bowl-winner Deion, was repeatedly overlooked before finally heading his name called in the fifth round, the 144th overall pick.

But television viewers couldn’t help but notice Browns general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski looked far from happy when drafting him.

The pair looked straight-faced as Sanders was revealed as a Browns player.

And that prompted many fans to believe that the pair had been reluctant to take on Sanders’ services.

One fan said that it looked as though “a gun [had been] pointed at them”, while another said “Blink twice if you need help, Cleveland Browns.”

The Browns had already drafted a quarterback, Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, at the end of the third round.

And it remains to be seen how the Browns will go about their field, with Joe Flacco, 40, Deshaun Watson, 29, and Kenny Pickett, 26, also among their ranks.

Berry was quick to dismiss rumours that he and Stefanski were unhappy with Sanders’ selection, telling reporters: “Yeah, I think we’re probably just tired from the weekend.”

Stefansaki added: “Those clips, it’s not timed up to exactly the right time so I wouldn’t — don’t read too much into that.”

Berry continued: “But you know we do believe in best player available and positional value. And you know we didn’t necessarily expect [Sanders] to be available in the fifth round.”

Some fans still refused to believe the pair’s words, with one posting on X: “Blink twice if you need help, Cleveland Browns.”

“Lol, this was a Jimmy Haslam pick,” another fan said, referring to the Browns’ eccentric owner. “None of those guys [in the front office] are happy.”

Other NFL aficionados were more understanding with Berry and Stefanski’s reactions, with one simply stating: “You expect everyone to jump for joy for 200 picks?”.

Sanders was the subject one of the worst slides down the NFL Draft in history, and he aired his relief on X, saying: “THANK YOU GOD,” accompanied by a video captured off streaming website Twitch where Saunders danced around the room with his brother.

The Browns had been tipped to be keen on Sanders, with some experts suggesting they could pick in the second round if he fell that far.

But they passed on him at 33 and 36, before the New Orleans Saints snapped up Louisville’s Tyler Shough at 40, with him being the final quarterback pick of the second.

The Seattle Seahawks plumped for Alabama’s Jalen Milroe as the 92nd overall pick, before the Browns made their move for Gabriel ahead of Sanders.

President Donald Trump could not believe that Sanders had not been selected, venting: “What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?

“Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart!

“Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness.

‘He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”
