The SEC flexed its muscle during the 2025 NFL Draft.
In 2021, the SEC set a record for most players selected from a single conference with 65. It went on to tie that record in 2022. It came close to matching that number again in 2023 (62) before “only” seeing 59 players picked in 2024.
In 2025, the record finally fell when a 66th SEC player, former Alabama defensive tackle Tim Smith, came off the board in the sixth round.
The 2025 draft will end with the SEC once again leading all conferences in selections. You’ll have to go back a number of years to find the last time it didn’t (2006, when it finished behind the ACC and Big Ten).
Taking a closer look, 15 SEC players were selected in the first round, tying its own record in that department (set in 2020).
It’s impressive to see the constant stream of talent go from the SEC to the NFL. And while the Big Ten has established a pipeline of its own, thanks in part to the number of teams it contains, the SEC continues to be king when it comes to overall selections, running its streak to an outstanding 19 years in a row.
