NFL boss Roger Goodell has rejected the Kansas City Chiefs’ special request for the schedule.
But the commissioner confirmed changes are on the way from the 2025 season.

He was specifically asked about Christmas Day after the success of 2024.
The NFL began their three-year package with Netflix for games on the holiday.
Netflix globally broadcast a double-header featuring the Kansas City Chiefs.
Goodell confirmed that Kansas City has requested to play on Christmas every year.
That would follow the Thanksgiving tradition, where the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions always play a home game.
But the NFL boss dismissed the idea.
“The Chiefs want to play every Christmas,” Goodell said.
“I don’t think we’ll do that – we’ll rotate those games.”
The Chiefs won their game at the Pittsburgh Steelers before the Baltimore Ravens took on the Houston Texans.
That game featured a halftime show from Beyonce and there was a cameo from Mariah Carey on the broadcast.
Christmas in 2025 falls on a Thursday – which is a regular NFL gameday.
Amazon Prime will broadcast a Thursday Night Football game after the Netflix double-header.
And Goodell added that three games on Christmas will become the norm regardless of which day the holiday falls on.
He also discussed the league’s effort to move to 18 regular-season games.
“There’s no question that the general public would rather have a regular-season game than a preseason game,” Goodell said.
“18 regular-season games and 2 preseason games makes sense.”
“The core function for us is can we keep the game safe for our players?”
“We used to have 14 regular-season games and six pre-season games but guys played every pre-season game.
“The equipment, the rules, the way we train players have all improved.”
