Lucas Perez pitched a complete game and hit a home run for Newport Harbor in a 6-3 victory over Huntington Beach on Friday in a Sunset League game at Huntington Beach High.
The Sailors won two of their three league games this week against Huntington Beach, ranked No. 1 in the Orange County Top 25 that has Newport Harbor at No. 15. Huntington Beach is No. 10 in the MaxPreps national rankings.
Huntington Beach (19-4 overall) is in first place in the seven-team Sunset League with a 12-2 league record. Newport Harbor (19-6 overall) is second at 11-4.
Ryan Williams had two hits including a double and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly for Newport Harbor. Sailors senior third baseman Wyatt Gahm hit his first high school home run.
Jayton Greer homered for Huntington Beach.
Newport Harbor plays three league games against Marina next week. Huntington Beach plays Edison in three league games next week.
Also in the Sunset League:
No. 19 Fountain Valley 6, No. 21 Marina 3: Miles Hiskey drove in two runs for the Barons (14-9 overall, 8-6 league) in their home win over Vikings (9-16, 3-13).
Isaac Grimaldo was 3 for 3 with an RBI for Fountain Valley.
In the Crestview League:
El Modena 4, No. 7 Foothill 3: Weston Abbey’s base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning drove in Logan Honikel with the winning run as the Vanguards (10-15, 1-7) got their first league win.
Honikel hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game 3-3.
In the Empire League:
No. 14 Fullerton 8, Calvary Chapel 3: Christian Robinson homered and had three RBIs for the league-leading Indians (15-8-1, 6-2).
Hudson Hall had two hits and two RBIs for Calvary Chapel.
Ocean View 5, Tustin 4: Mateo Rodriguez had three hits and drove in two runs for the Seahawks (11-13, 7-4).
In the Golden West League:
Costa Mesa 13, Buena Park 5: Wylan Rottschafer had three RBIs for the league-leading Mustangs (18-6, 8-0).
Aiden Comte and Grady Jackson had two RBIs each for Costa Mesa. Comte was 3 for 3.
Katella 7, Kennedy 2: Julian Bustos had two including including a double and drove in three runs for the Knights (18-3, 7-1).
Katella plays first-place Costa Mesa in two league games next week.

In the Trinity League:
JSerra 6, Santa Margarita 1: Freshman Jax Janeski gave JSerra a strong pitching performance in a road win over Santa Margarita.
Janeski allowed two hits and no earned runs in 5⅔ innings with four strikeouts. UC Santa Barbara signee Jordan Marian went 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs for JSerra (10-12, 5-7). Shane D’Arcy hit a double and Blake Bowen added a double and a stolen base.
UCLA signee Hayden George allowed two earned runs in five innings with five strikeouts for Santa Margarita (13-11, 5-7).
In the South Coast League:
Trabuco Hills 2, Tesoro 1: Daniel Van De Kreeke had two hits and two RBIs for Trabuco Hills (17-7-1, 6-3).
Josh Fitch earned the win with three shutout innings in relief with two strikeouts. Luke Hoffman had two hits and scored a run.
Brandon McKindley pitched well for Tesoro (5-18, 4-5) and allowed two runs in 5⅓ innings with two strikeouts. Eli Martin had two hits and one RBI.
Aliso Niguel 1, Dana Hills 0: Cooper Flemming pitched a one-hit shutout for Aliso Niguel (19-6, 6-3) in a win over Dana Hills.
The Vanderbilt signee had eight strikeouts. Carson Etnire and Austin Hays each had two hits for the Wolverines and freshman Hudson Covington drove in the lone run.
Ben Moulin pitched well for Dana Hills (10-13-1, 5-6-1) with just four hits allowed in five innings with five strikeouts. Brad Lewis hit a double for Dana Hills’ lone hit.
In the Freeway League:
La Habra 3, Yorba Linda 2: A pair of RBI doubles lifted La Habra (16-8, 6-2) to a win over Yorba Linda.
Bobby Fierro and Fernando Alatorre each had a double with one RBI. Angel Acuna got the win with two hits and two runs allowed in 4⅔ innings with five strikeouts.
Nathan Schneider had a double with a RBI for Yorba Linda (7-18, 2-8).
In the North Hills League:
Brea Olinda 7, Sonora 4: Brea Olinda scored five runs in the third inning in a win over Sonora.
Brayden Robinson went 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI for Brea Olinda (15-6, 9-1). Deacon Britton drove in two runs for the Wildcats and Hudson Sims added a double.
Lincoln Webster had two hits with one RBI for Sonora (13-9, 4-3) and Tucker Hunnicutt had two hits.
In the Sea View League:
San Clemente 7, Mission Viejo 4: San Clemente scored seven runs in its final two innings at bat to clinch a series sweep of Mission Viejo.
Kai Cesare had a double and drove in two runs for San Clemente (15-9, 7-2). Joaquim Baumgardner had two hits with two RBIs and Stanford signee Mike Erspamer had a double and two RBIs. Luke Acuna pitched 6⅔ innings and had three strikeouts.
Jack Boucher went 3 for 4 with a double, stolen base and one RBI for Mission Viejo (11-14, 3-6). Max Osika added a double and drove in two runs.
Beckman 4, San Juan Hills 2: Nick Molina hit a home run and had two RBIs for Beckman in a win over San Juan Hills.
The win completed a three-game sweep for Beckman (15-13, 5-7) over the Stallions. Gus Powell went 3 for 3 and scored two runs and Sean Franco added two hits.
Carter Head allowed two runs in five innings with four strikeouts. Ricky Schoeffler pitched two shutout innings to earn the save.
Ethan Meeker hit a home run for San Juan Hills (12-11, 4-5) and Tanner Kessler drove in a run.
In the Pacific Coast League:
St. Margaret’s 4, Woodbridge 3 (10 innings): Charlie Allen had the game-winning hit in the 10th inning for St. Margaret’s.
Allen had three hits and drove in two runs for St. Margaret’s (3-15, 2-10).
Kyle Underwood had seven strikeouts in six innings for Woodbridge (17-9, 6-6). Nevan Namgong had two hits with a double and a stolen base. Alex Johnson had two hits with one RBI.
Laguna Beach 10, Portola 1: Becker Sybirski had a big day on the mound and at the plate for Laguna Beach (21-3, 11-1).
Sybirski allowed just two hits, no earned runs and had seven strikeouts in the win and had three hits with a double and two RBIs. Parker Moore had three hits with a double and five RBIs. Lincoln Adams went 3 for 3 with a double and one RBI.
Northwood 2, University 1: Paul Grossman had nine strikeouts and allowed no earned runs in six innings for Northwood (11-14-1, 7-5).
Colin Carlson had two hits with a RBI for the Timberwolves and Koji Yoshimizu had one RBI.
Andrew Shean allowed one earned run in six innings with four strikeouts for University (12-2, 5-7). Chase Nguyen had a double and one RBI.
In the Orange League:
Bolsa Grande 13, Santiago 7: Bolsa Grande had a stellar offensive game in a win over Santiago.
Junior Rizo went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Tank Britton added three hits with one RBI. Nick Vazquez hit a triple and drove in three runs. Mikey Haley Jr. had two hits and stole three bases.
Britton got the win on the mound for Bolsa Grande (13-6, 8-2) with seven strikeouts in five innings.
Daniel Thomas Romero had two doubles with three RBIs for Santiago (6-13, 6-6). Isaiah Cortez had two hits with one RBI.
In the Coast League:
Savanna 11, Anaheim 5: Aiden Perez went 4 for 5 with a triple, stolen base and three RBIs in Savanna’s win over Anaheim.
Jesus Lopez had two hits and drove in two runs for Savanna (15-9, 6-4). Josh Eich got the win with four strikeouts in 3⅔ innings.
