Who will the Arizona Cardinals take on Day 2 of the NFL Draft? ...Middle East

Sport by : (Arizona sports) -

The Arizona Cardinals had one pick in the first round of the NFL Draft and used their No. 16 pick on Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen on Thursday.

On day two of the NFL Draft, the Cardinals hold two selections — one in the second (No. 47) and one in the third round (No. 78).

Let’s dive into what experts say is in store for Arizona’s day two selections.

What are mock drafts saying the Arizona Cardinals should do on Day 2 of the NFL Draft?

Second round (No. 47)

Arizona has been mocked to continue addressing the defensive side of the ball either by adding an edge rusher or bolstering its young secondary alongside Garrett Williams and Max Melton.

The Athletic: JT Tuimoloau, Edge, Ohio State

One of the savviest players in this class, regardless of position, Tuimoloau uses a deep move set coupled with great length and a high football IQ to overcome his lack of ideal explosion off the edge. A big-time producer at Ohio State, Tuimoloau was always around the football.

The 2024 college football national champion is coming off a career-best season in his senior year in which he recorded 61 tackles — 22 for loss, 12.5 sacks (fifth in the nation), three passes defended and two forced fumbles.

Fox: Landon Jackson, Edge, Arkansas

The Cardinals still need reinforcements on defense, so they do what many thought they would in the first round by taking an edge rusher.

The Razorback product tallied 49 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, three passes defended and forced and recovered one fumble.

Sports Illustrated: Landon Jackson, Edge, Arkansas

After adding to its interior defensive line Thursday, the Cardinals get more juice off the edge in Jackson, whose size, athleticism and production in the SEC creates an intriguing combination.

Jackson was Second-Team All-SEC in the AP and coaches list.

CBS Sports: Azareye’h Thomas, CB, Florida State

With Max Melton and Thomas, the Cardinals would have two young, explosive outside cornerbacks who can lock down in man.

In his final season at Florida State, Thomas was second on the team with 52 tackles and one interception as he defended four passes.

PFF: Trey Amos, CB, Mississippi

Amos brings an ideal blend of size, movement skills and coverage scheme versatility to the cornerback position. While his explosiveness and speed aren’t anything special, his 2024 film shows he has a CB2 floor in the NFL with the potential to be a CB1.

In his lone season at Ole Miss, Amos recorded 50 tackles and three interceptions while defending 13 passes (third in the nation) and forcing a fumble.

Third round (No. 78)

Depending on their second-round selection, Arizona could shift its focus to offense in the third round.

The Athletic: Nohl Williams, CB, Cal

Williams led the country with seven interceptions this past season with the Golden Bears while returning one of those interceptions for a touchdown. The senior corner also defended nine passes and forced a fumble.

Fox: no third-round mock

Sports Illustrated: Jordan Burch, Edge, Oregon

The Oregon edge rusher put up career-highs in sacks (8.5) and tackles for loss (11.0). Burch also recorded 31 total tackles and defended six passes on the line and forced and recovered a fumble.

CBS Sports: Isaiah Bond, WR, Texas

Bond tallied 540 receiving yards and caught 34 passes for five touchdowns. On the ground, Bond had four carries for 98 yards and one touchdown.

PFF: Ozzy Trapilo, T, Boston College

Trapilo brings an ideal build and a scheme-versatile football IQ to the tackle position. His size and versatility as a left and right tackle will make him a swing tackle at worst, with the potential to be a solid starter for any run scheme.

Trapilo started all games at right tackle and earned an 81.0 pass block grade and a 74.1 offensive grade from PFF. He earned an All-ACC First Team honoree.
