Former snooker world champion Luca Brecel has offered a public invite for anyone who would like to join him on a private flight bound for Sheffield on Saturday at 3pm.
The 2023 world champion will fly from Belgium hours before his second round matchGettyBut what makes it a rather perplexing proposal is the fact Brecel’s second round clash against China’s Ding Junhui is set to begin at 7pm that same day.
A quick search shows the average flight time from Brussels to Doncaster Sheffield Airport lasts just over an hour.
However, there is always a chance his flight could be delayed.
And who knows what could transpire if the Belgian is absent for the start of his match against Junhui.
One reason Brecel will want to be there in time for the start is because the last time he made it out of the first round, he won the world championship.
Aside from that, Brecel has only ever known a first-round exit at the Crucible.
Brecel, who described himself as the Ronaldinho of snooker, booked his spot in the second round with a 10-7 win over Ryan Day.
It was an impressive turnaround given the Belgian was down 5-1 at one stage, although he always backed himself to win.
“Good to win,” Brecel told the BBC.
“I was expecting to win, to be honest, the whole way.

“I was a bit more relaxed, maybe, and yeah, it paid off in the end.
Brecel added: “I played some good stuff but if that goes 7-2 or something I’m going to lose.
“That was the turning point, but even at 5-1 down, I still felt OK, relaxed.
“I don’t really worry too much.”
A win over Junhui could also land Brecel his dream match against No. 2 seed Judd Trump.
The Belgian has got out of the first round at the Crucible for just the second timeGettyTrump faces 2025 Masters winner Shaun Murphy in the second round, with the Belgian admitting to Midnite he will favour the former.
“I relish the challenge of playing Judd in the third round,” Brecel said.
“I’ve never played against him before at the Crucible.
“I think he’s very tough to beat here… but we will see how it goes.”
