Every playoff series takes on a life of its own. Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray are often at the center of everything the Denver Nuggets do, but there are elements that always evolve and shift around those two in these moments.
For the Nuggets tonight, Christian Braun has to have a moment.
With Michael Porter Jr. dealing with a shoulder injury and Aaron Gordon dealing with a calf injury (and trying to slow down Kawhi Leonard at the same time), Braun is in a position where there’s a lot of pressure on him to step up to the plate. He already is tasked with guarding James Harden for much of this series, but he can’t just be a one-way player for Denver. He must provide some scoring or playmaking in impact on the offensive end if the Nuggets want to win Game 3.
Who will step up for Denver in a hostile road environment?
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn previews Game 3 of the Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Clippers playoff series. Michael Porter Jr. is questionable with a shoulder injury, and the Nuggets are trying to recover from a close loss at the buzzer in Game 2.
Ryan shares some insights, some telling stats about Nikola Jokic, Kawhi Leonard, and others, and discusses why it’s Christian Braun who must step up in this game.
