A MAJOR fast-food chain has confirmed it will shut down up to 200 restaurants as part of a sweeping financial overhaul.
The nationwide closure comes as a part of a major financial reset focused on debt reduction and operational efficiency.

Closures will roll out in phases, with 80 to 120 locations shuttering by the end of 2025.
Additional restaurants will close in the following years as franchise agreements run out.
NEW STRATEGY
The chain has launched a new initiative dubbed “JACK on Track” aimed at tightening operations and boosting cash flow.
CEO Lance Tucker, who took the helm on March 31, said the company is pushing for a leaner, more focused business model.
“Our actions today focus on three main areas,” he said in a statement.
“Addressing our balance sheet, closing underperforming restaurants, and returning to simplicity.”
Many of the restaurants slated to close have been open for more than 30 years and are no longer delivering strong results.
The plan marks a shift toward what the company calls an “asset-light” strategy.
Real estate owned by the company will be sold, with the proceeds directed toward debt paydown.
The company plans to sharply reduce spending on new company-owned restaurant development starting in 2026.
However, it will continue to upgrade existing locations through a series of “restaurant reimages.”

The changes don’t stop there, Del Taco, a Mexican-style fast-food brand owned by Jack in the Box, could soon be on the chopping block.
The company has started what it’s calling a “strategic alternatives process” for Del Taco, which may include a sale.

The uncertainty means some fans may soon lose access to their go-to taco shop.
All performance guidance for Del Taco has been suspended indefinitely while the company reviews its options.
During the second quarter, both brands saw a dip in foot traffic and sales.
Jack in the Box closed more restaurants than it opened during the quarter, and the same happened at Del Taco.
The company plans to share more updates during its earnings call in May, but for now, fans of both chains are left waiting to see if their favorite spot will survive the cut.
