Things to Do in Kraków

Though much smaller than Warsaw, Kraków is Poland’s second most well-known city. The former capital, the city is rich in history, art, food and medieval architecture. It’s less industrial than Warsaw and also more touristy. It’s one of two main cities closest to Auschwitz, the Nazi concentration camp; the site is now home to a museum and memorial to honor those who lost their lives there.

Old Town: See churches, ancient buildings and even Poland’s oldest shopping mall in the city’s historic district. It’s now home to many restaurants and bars, so you can easily enjoy a full day hanging around here.Wavel Castle: This large castle has multiple museums inside, an archaeological exhibit, a garden and a dragon’s den. Wieliczka Salt Mine: One of the world’s oldest salt mines, this site produced salt until 1966. You can now tour the mine, which has underground chapels and statues carved into the salt.

Why Gdańsk Is Worth a Visit

St. Mary's Church: Gdańsk is home to one of the world’s largest brick churches. From the top of it, you’ll have one of the best views in the entire city.Długa Street: Known as “long lane” in English, this is the city’s main street. The colorful, slim buildings will charm you immediately. It’s a good starting point for a walking tour of the city’s main sights.Museum of the Second World War: This city was the staring place of the Second World War. It’s only right to visit the museum to learn more than what the history books will teach you.
