The Edmonton Oilers battled back but couldn’t quite complete the rally in their Game 1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.
After falling behind 4–0, the Oilers ultimately dropped a 6-5 decision on Monday night to open their first-round series.
Andrei Kuzmenko, Quinton Byfield, Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala and Phillip Danault — who scored twice, including the game-winner in the final seconds of the third — had the goals for L.A.
Leon Draisaitl, Mattias Janmark, Corey Perry, Zach Hyman and Connor McDavid replied for Edmonton.
Game 2 is set for Wednesday at 8 p.m. MT / 7 p.m. PT.
More to come.
