The Arizona Diamondbacks’ series finale against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Sunday was delayed multiple times due to rain and lightning.
First pitch was scheduled for 11:20 a.m. MST. The first pitch was thrown at 12 p.m. before rain and lightning delayed the game again.

The D-backs and Cubs were scoreless in the bottom half of the first inning with the Cubs having runners on first and second base with one out when both teams were called off the field.

Sunday is the final day of a six-game road trip for the Diamondbacks before being off on Monday. The D-backs are 3-2 on the trip, losing the first games of the series against the Cubs after sweeping the Miami Marlins.

Sunday’s pitching matchup in Chicago is Merrill Kelly against Jameson Taillon.
Kelly is 3-1 with a 5.57 ERA and is coming off a start in Miami on Tuesday where he pitched six innings, recording nine strikeouts and allowing only one run in a 10-4 win against the Marlins.
Taillon is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA and is coming off a start on Monday in San Diego where he pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts in a 10-4 loss to the Padres.
The D-backs are back home on Tuesday for a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
