Weld RE-8 School District invites community to superintendent forum ...Saudi Arabia

The Weld RE-8 School District will host a superintendent meet and greet and public forum from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Lupton High School.

The school district announced in a social media post that attendees can meet the five superintendent finalists: Chris Fiedler, Verenice Gutierrez, Kym LeBlanc Esparz, Theodore Robison III and Justin Ralston. After the event, the community can submit feedback forms about the candidates that the Board of Education will use to make a final decision.

People can submit questions for candidates to answer during the public forum by going to forms.gle/JKqFnERKZP2zPPYc8.

Who are the candidates?

For 31 years, Fiedler has served five school districts. He worked as a principal and a superintendent in small, rural school districts in Colorado:  Limon, Gilpin County and Deer Trail school districts. In 2005, he moved to 27J Schools, where he has been principal at two different schools

He served the final 12 years at 27J Schools as superintendent before retiring in June 2024.

Gutierrez, in her 29th year of education, began her career as a second-grade teacher in New Mexico. She went on to serve as an assistant principal, principal, director and chief academic officer of LEEP Dual Language Academies. She currently oversees 13 schools as the iConnect Zone Superintendent in D49 in Colorado Springs.

LeBlanc Esparz has served as deputy superintendent of Jeffco Public Schools since 2022. Before her current role, she worked as the superintendent of the Archuleta School District in Colorado and the Newberg School District in Oregon.

Her 30-plus years of experience in rural and urban K-12 education settings also included roles as executive director of K-12, principal, content specialist and staff developer and classroom teacher.

Theodore Robison III serves as the executive director of secondary education in the Thompson School District. Before Thompson School District, he worked as a middle school principal, assistant principal and athletics and activities administrator in the Boulder Valley School District

He also held district-level special education roles in Adams 12 Five Star Schools and Westminster Public Schools.

Since 2022, Ralston has served as superintendent of Essexville-Hampton Public Schools in Michigan. For nearly 20 years, his educational experience has included leading preschool through 12 schools in Washington, D.C., working as a special education teacher and working in diverse, international settings like Kenya, Liberia and Uganda.
