Wale has announced that after 10 years, his annual WaleMania event is coming to an end. He made the unexpected announcement on X Thursday (April 17), confirming that this year’s WaleMania — which has always coincided with WrestleMania weekend — will mark the end of an era.
“I hope everybody has a great time tonight,” he wrote. “This will be the final Walemania. Ten years lots of memories.. thank u to everybody who has showed up and showed out.”
Following the announcement, he was immediately flooded with congratulatory comments.
“Labor of love my brother.. helluva run,” he wrote in response to one congratulatory fan. He added in another message, “Anybody who been paying attention knew this was inevitable. This the last hurrah.”
When one fan asked why he was ending WaleManie, he responded, “Was a labor of love . I’m not in love anymore.”
Wale kicked off WaleMania in 2015 alongside former WWE writer Court Bauer, offering it up as a side event to WWE’s WrestleMania weekend. The festivities offered a unique blend of music and professional wrestling that became a highlight of WrestleMania 31 weekend, leading it to be deemed an annual event.
In a 2022 interview, Wale said the event meshed together two of his greatest loves.
“WaleMania has always been a passion of mine because it combines all of my loves into one place during a weekend that I always have the most fun,” he said at the time. “I love doing this for fans of myself and my music as well as the fans of professional wrestling because at the end of the day, I’m one of you too. I love that WaleMania has become the unofficial welcome to the big weekend party.”
