The WWE Hall of Fame is stacked full of legendary figures from years gone by.

Created in 1993 when Andre the Giant was posthumously honored as the sole inductee, the ranks have been bolstered over the last three decades.

Andre the Giant was WWE’s first Hall of FamerWWE

Ahead of this year’s ceremony, just shy of 250 professional wrestling icons have been inducted.

While many fans will be familiar with those who headlined their class — Bret Hart, Kurt Angle and The Undertaker to name a few — some may not know about the Hall of Fame’s celebrity wing.

The wing is dedicated to famous faces who have made memorable appearances on WWE programming, or who have had longtime associations with professional wrestling, and have been very successful in other fields.

Much like the wrestling Hall of Fame, the celebrity arm is stacked full of colorful characters who have ties to the squared circle.

Here, we break down nine famous faces you probably didn’t realise were in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger has lived a life that many can only dream of.

The box office powerhouse was a world-class bodybuilding athlete in his heyday, so it’s perhaps no surprise to seem him in WWE’s Hall of Fame.

While he never had a match in the squared circle, Schwarzenegger’s involvement with WWE dates back decades, to when he became friends with Bruno Sammartino and ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham.

On an episode of SmackDown in November 1999, Vince McMahon presented the megastar with the ‘World Box Office Championship’ — represented by a replica WWE title — and Arnold went on to lay out Triple H with a series of vicious punches.

In 2013, he inducted his longtime friend Sammartino into the Hall of Fame, and the following year, he appeared on Raw in Brooklyn to promote a movie and nail The Miz across the jaw.

Schwarzenegger made his name in the 1960s and 1970s as a bodybuilder, and also made appearances in WWE

William Shatner

Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner, was beamed into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2020.

The actor is beloved by millions around the world for his iconic portrayal of James T. Kirk, captain of the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek television series.

Shatner made his first appearance in WWE in early 1995, when he appeared as the special guest on Jerry Lawler’s King’s Court.

He didn’t take too kindly to ‘The King’s’ badgering and sent the star flying with a monkey flip.

Shatner returned to Raw one week later to be in Bret Hart’s corner for a showdown against Jeff Jarrett and over a decade later, inducted Lawler into the Hall of Fame.

He even served as a special guest host of the Red Brand in February 2010.

Mike Tyson

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ had a pretty memorable run with WWE.

Mike Tyson was first seen in a heated promo segment with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in 1998, and went on to be a special ring enforcer at WrestleMania XIV.

He counted the pin as Austin picked up victory — and his first WWE title — against Shawn Michaels.

Tyson then went on to knock out the Heartbreak Kid after the bell, in a truly iconic WrestleMania moment, and he was paid handsomely for the run of appearances.

He returned to WWE in 2010 after a scene-stealing turn in The Hangover, and teamed with Chris Jericho to battle Triple H and Michaels.

But before the match was over, Tyson revealed his true allegiance to DX, and silenced his mouthy partner with a trademark right hand.

Pete Rose

Not content with just dominating the world of baseball, Pete Rose took his talents to the WWE Universe too.

‘Charlie Hustle’ established a legacy that is unforgettable to fans of America’s favorite pastime, winning the World Series three times. He also provided some exciting moments in the squared circle too.

Rose made appearances at WrestleMania XIV, WrestleMania XV, and WrestleMania 2000, providing classic highlights that set the standard for celebrity appearances at WWE’s annual spectacular.

He was on the receiving end of a Tombstone Piledriver from Kane, and was even ‘stink faced’ by Rikishi.

Rose, who had an MLB career that spanned from 1963 to 1986, understood the unique entertainment form of professional wrestling, and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004.

Mr. T

Best known outside the ring for his starring role in the A-Team and numerous other Hollywood blockbusters, Mr. T made his presence felt during the first two WrestleMania events.

At the inaugural show in 1985, he teamed with Hulk Hogan in a main event victory against Paul Orndorff and ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper.

Mr. T then went on to face ‘Hot Rod’ the following year in a boxing match, which he also won.

After going two-for-two in appearances on the Grandest Stage of Them All, Mr. T was rarely seen after, but was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.

Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg’s contributions to hip-hop need no introduction. He has sold more than 35 million records worldwide, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential rappers of all time.

He also happens to love WWE, too, and has made numerous appearances at WrestleMania, even being described as the MVP of the show two years ago.

Snoop stepped in to battle co-host The Miz after Shane McMahon tore his quad in an impromptu match, and the rapper even performed The Rock’s signature move to secure the win.

The music icon also brought his unique flair to WrestleMania XXIV in Orlando back in 2008, and returned a year later as special guest host of Raw.

Snoop’s cousin, Sasha Banks, had a great run with WWE too. She now performs in AEW as Mercedes Mone.

Muhammad Ali

One of the most iconic figures in sporting history, Muhammad Ali was not only a three-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion and Olympic gold medalist, but he was also a WWE Hall of Famer too.

In 1976, Ali competed in ‘The War of the Worlds’ – an exhibition match against fellow Hall of Famer Antonio Inoki inside the Nippon Budokan arena in Tokyo, Japan.

The match, which was competed under specific rules, resulted in a 15-round draw in front of 32,000 fans in the crowd.

It was also broadcast on closed-circuit television to nearly 33,000 fans inside Shea Stadium in Queens, New York.

After retiring from the boxing ring with a career record of 56-5 (37 knockouts), Ali returned to the squared circle where he served as the special guest referee for the inaugural WrestleMania main event – Hogan and Mr. T vs Piper and Orndorff.

His defining moment in the match came when he caught ‘Hot Rod’ with his signature right hand – a move that restored order to the bout.

Ali passed away in 2016, and was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2024.

Ozzy Osbourne

A legendary heavy metal singer and longtime WWE collaborator, Ozzy Osbourne was the Celebrity Inductee in the class of 2021.

He burst onto the music scene in the 1970s as the frontman of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Black Sabbath, and their tune ‘War Pigs’ has served as the theme for NXT TakeOver: WarGames since 2022.

Osbourne has made a number of other stops in WWE down the years, first appearing at WrestleMania 2, when he joined forces with Captain Lou Albano to manage The British Bulldogs as they captured the World Tag Team Championships.

He also appeared in the 2000s, to both perform his latest single and serve as the special guest host for an edition of Raw that featured a superstar talent show — ‘Raw’s Got Talent.’

Donald Trump

For some who operate outside the world of professional wrestling, seeing the current US President in the WWE Hall of Fame might come as quite a surprise.

But for many fans, it’s certainly not a shock given his history with the company.

Trump has been making a consistent impact on WWE since the days when Andre the Giant was still king.

His plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey, hosted both WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V — the only venue to present The Show of Shows two years in a row.

Trump then became a familiar face in the front row of WWE events, and in 2007, he got in on the action.

He was challenged to a ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ by McMahon at WrestleMania 23 with the stipulation that the loser of the bout would have his head shaved bald.

A record number of viewers tuned in to watch the future president back Bobby Lashley to victory over McMahon’s Umaga, and he subsequently shaved the former WWE Chairman’s head in the center of the ring.

The businessmen locked horns again in June 2009, when Trump purchased Monday Night Raw and immediately announced that the next show would air commercial-free and that every fan that who purchased a ticket would be given a full refund.

His actions forced McMahon to quickly buy his show back – for twice the price.

Trump is the only WWE Hall of Famer who has ever gone on to hold the title of America’s Commander-in-Chief.
