Duke freshman star Kon Knueppel is making his call on the future of his career. The 6-foot-7 revealed his decision on Wednesday to commit for the 2025 NBA Draft in what is an expected move but a big loss for Jon Scheyer and his program.

— Kon II Knueppel (@Kon2Knueppel) April 16, 2025This season, Knueppel was 2nd on Duke in scoring at 14.4 points per game, trailing only Cooper Flagg in that area. With Flagg expected to be the No. 1 overall pick, Knueppel often took a secondary role but showed what he could do all season long.
After Flagg was injured in the ACC Tournament, Knueppel went off with averages of 21 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals while shooting 48.6% from the floor. The Blue Devils went 3-0 and rolled to an ACC Tournament title in spite of Flagg’s absence. Knueppel went on to score in double figures in all but 1 NCAA Tournament game, and that lone game came in the Round of 64 blowout of Mount St. Mary’s.
For his entire freshman season, Knueppel averaged 14.4 points, 4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1 steal while shooting 40.6% from 3-point range. He also led the ACC while going 91.4% from the free-throw line.
Duke is expected to lose Flagg, Knueppel and Khaman Maluach — a trio of elite freshmen — to the NBA, but Blue Devil fans should not feel too bad about that. Scheyer’s program has landed the top-ranked recruiting class in the country for 2025, headlined by twins Cameron and Cayden Boozer, the twin sons of former Duke star Carlos Boozer.
