COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – An alleged road rage shooting has injured one person and caused Interstate 70 in west Columbus to shut down Tuesday morning.
According to Columbus police, a 911 call was received from a man who said he had been shot while driving on I-70 West, near West Mound Street. The caller stated the shooting was a result of a road-rage incident that involved his vehicle and a gold-colored Chevrolet Equinox.
Two arrested in death of 14-year-old crash victim found shot in South LindenPolice dispatch reported that the two vehicles were “brake-checking” each other, according to a witness, who said the incident started at the Interstate 71 and State Route 315 split. The drivers continued westbound before a person in the Equinox fired at the victim, who was driving a black Ford F-150.
Officers located the caller on I-70 West, near the Hague Avenue exit, and he was taken to a local hospital after being shot in the face. He is considered to be in a non-life-threatening condition.
Police continue to search for the driver of the Equinox, who fled the scene. Interstate 70 westbound is closed, beginning at the Interstate 71 and State Route 315 interchanges while investigators process the scene.
In addition ramps from I-71 North to I-70 West, along with the ramp from SR-315 South to I-70 West are closed.
