Travis Kelce Practices With Group of High School Players: 'Learned A Lot' ...Middle East

News by : (Us magazine) -

As he prepares to enter his 13th season in the NFL, Travis Kelce took to the field with some hungry players half his age.

Kelce, 34, practiced with a group of high school football players last week and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end posed for some sweaty pictures afterward to prove it.

“Got some good work in with Travis Kelce this past week, learned a lot from the Super Bowl legend,” Chamblee High School wide receiver Jazz Lewis posted via X on Sunday, April 13.

Lewis is the son of former NFL running back Jamal Lewis, who works as the high school team’s director of college recruiting.

NFL Hall of Famer Ed Reed, who made 8 Pro Bowls before retiring in 2015, was named Chamblee’s offensive coordinator in January. Reed’s son, Ed Reed III, plays for Chamblee where he will be a senior next season.

Chamblee quarterback Brayden Doss also posted a photo via X with Kelce after their practice day. “Thanks for everything,” Doss wrote.

Kelce announced in February that he would return for another season with the Chiefs, ending weeks of speculation that he might retire.

ESPN’s Pat McAfee broke the news of Kelce’s decision during an episode of The Pat McAfee Show, reading a text from Kelce out loud on the air.

“My dawg!!! I’m coming back for sure,” the text from Kelce read. “I’m gonna try to get to the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop. Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle.”

Kelce and the Chiefs lost 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. In the game, Kelce had only four catches for 39 yards, the worst Super Bowl performance of his career.

The tight end’s text to McAfee concluded, “I can’t go out like that!!!!”

Kelce elaborated on his decision to come back for another season on the March 5 episode of his “New Heights” podcast, which he cohosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.

“I think the biggest thing is that I f***ing love playing the game of football,” Travis said. “I love playing, I still feel like I can play at a high level. And possibly at a higher level than I did last year, I don’t think it was my best outing. I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I’ve been in years past. I just, you know, I wanna give it a good run.”
