The University of Texas appears to have a vacancy on its swim & dive coaching staff for next season.
On Thursday, the school put up a job posting for a new full-time assistant, indicating that one of their coaches from this past season is heading elsewhere.
Although SwimSwam does not know the specifics of which coach is leaving Texas (or why), this vacancy could be related to some pending news expected to drop around 12:30 pm ET on Friday.
The posting does not specify if the assistant coach would be on the men’s or women’s team staff, though it does include one of the requirements being “significant experience and expertise in pulling spotting belts over trampoline and dry board,” indicating it may be for diving.
During the 2024-25 season, Mitch Dalton served as an associate head coach under Carol Capitani on the women’s team, while Chad Mylin was the team’s lone assistant swimming coach.
The men’s program, led by Bob Bowman, included Erik Posegay as an associate head coach and Trevor Maida as an assistant coach on staff.
Matt Scoggin is the head diving coach of both teams and Manny Pollard is listed as the assistant diving coach for men and women.
Capitani led the Texas women to a 3rd-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Championships, their fifth straight time finishing in the top three after reeling off three consecutive runner-up finishes in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
In Bowman’s first year as the men’s head coach, he led the Longhorns to their first NCAA title since 2021, an incredibly quick turnaround after the team finished 7th in 2024, their lowest finish since 2005.
