‘Tulsa’s Stonehenge’ to be completed after agreement of federal grant ...Middle East

Work has begun on the reconfiguration of the I-44/US-75 interchange in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The $252m project attracted attention after its first phase left a series of bridge piers locals named “Tulsa’s Stonehenge”.

Work was temporarily halted after the completion of the $90m first phase in 2023. It has now become available again, after the Oklahoma Department of Transportation received two federal grants worth a total of $95m.

Work includes rolling three phases into one, with the scope including:

Widening US-75 between 71st St. and 41st Street Replacing the US-75 interchange at 61st Street Adding a new frontage road between 61st St. and Skelly Drive Extending and connecting 51st Street. under US-75 Building a pedestrian bridge over the railroad along 51st Street near Elwood Ave.

The project is due to be completed in summer 2028, dependent on weather conditions.
