NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK: National Library Week will be celebrated 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with a program at the Howland Library Branch, 9095 E. Market St. The event will include a gift basket raffle, live music from guitarists Tyler Guerrieri and refreshments from the Friends of the Howland Library.
BURGUNDY AND PINK TEA: The missionary society of Grace AME Church will host its 37th annual Burgundy and Pink Tea 4 p.m. Sunday. The theme for the occasion is “Beautiful, Elegant and Blessed Women … Featuring First Ladies.” Guests are asked to wear their finest hat or fascinator and gloves. Refreshments will be served after the program. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling the church office at 330-394-6270 or Freda at 330-394-5058.
WARREN MUSIC CLUB: The Warren Music Club , a member of the Ohio and National Federation of Music Clubs, will observe Jazz Appreciation Month 2 p.m. Sunday at the home of Karl and Jeannine Morris. Shelly Cory-Shafer is program chair for the program about American jazz music, which is open to the public. Attendees will learn about the history of jazz music and about an American jazz composer. Ben Olsen will read “Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break” by Fanny Crosby from Music in Poetry and Song published by NFMC. Elaine Maki will accompany the NFMC Benediction on “The Gift of Song” by Lana Bailey.
ROTARY SEEKS NOMINATIONS: The Niles Rotary Club is seeking nominations for its Citizen of the Year for 2025. Nominees must live in Niles and have demonstrated selfless acts.
Nominations are to be sent to David Buttar by April 15 at david@photoidbadges.com.
The Rotary Club also is taking orders for the yearly Fly the Flag campaign to honor those who have served or are still serving in the military. Flags will be installed in mid-May. For flags, contact Paul Rhodes at dusty44446@hotmail.com.
