A fan was punched in the face by one of Conor McGregor’s security guards after appearing to try and attack the UFC star.
The Irishman was in Dubai promoting a BKFC event at the Duty Free Tennis Stadium on Friday night when a spectator attempted to push through a sea of security to get to McGregor.
McGregor’s security was involved in a fan incident on Friday nightHis team were quick to intervene, with one member of staff landing a big right hand on the fan.
McGregor watched on undeterred, shrugging his shoulders as security pounced on the man.
The video taken of the incident then cuts to the fan being escorted out of the venue with blood running down his face.
Two-weight UFC champion McGregor purchased a large stake in BKFC last year and has expressed interest in fighting for the bare-knuckle boxing promotion in the not-so-distant future.
He still has two fights remaining on his UFC deal.
However, he hasn’t competed since breaking his leg during a bout with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
The Irishman was supposed to make a return to action against Michael Chandler last June, but he pulled out of the contest with a broken toe, and the fight hasn’t been rescheduled since.
Growing tired of waiting, McGregor has threatened to breach his UFC contract by making an impromptu appearance for BKFC.
“One of these days you’ll just hear my music come onto this stage in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and I’ll have my fist wrapped with no gloves for a fight, out of nowhere,” McGregor told The Schmo.
“No promotion. No promo. No nothing. Just fighting a random fight on the card.
The security guard stopped the spectator from getting to McGregor“That could be what the future holds. And legal, making claims and all this? That’s for p******.”
It seems highly unlikely that McGregor would want to get swept up in the potential legal implications of breaching his contract.
In fact, it seems far more likely that he will never fight again, judging from his most recent comments.
“I’ve got two fights on the [UFC] contract, I’m in negotiations,” he told assembled media last week.
“Last week, something happened to me. I went to the White House, and my heart bleeds for my country right now.
“So there’s a lot of stuff going on back home… I’m happy with what I’ve done.
There’s something else for me that’s in my gut right now, and that’s kind of where I’m going.
“So we’ll see, greatness doesn’t rush. And right now, Ireland is in my thoughts and that’s where I’m at.”
