The 35-year-old has since confirmed he will return to Arrowhead for at least another season.
Kelce has been considered among the league’s elite at tight end since joining the Chiefs in 2013.
But one of his rivals is now raking in the cash after signing a mega-money deal.
Arizona Cardinals star Trey McBride penned a four-year, $76million extension on Thursday.
McBride, 22, was a second-round pick for the Cardinals in 2022.
He enjoyed a breakout year in 2024, catching 111 passes for 1,146 yards with two touchdowns.
Those receptions totals were the second most in a season for any pass catcher in Cardinals franchise history.

The impressive campaign earned McBride his first Pro Bowl appearance.
And now he has passed Kelce on the highest-paid TE list.
Kelce penned a two-year, $34.25m extension after winning the Super Bowl last year.
But it was a disappointing campaign for the Ohio native, who put up career-low numbers.
Kelce reeled in 97 passes for 823 yard and 3 touchdowns across the regular season.
Those were the lowest totals since he was drafted by the Chiefs 12 years ago.
McBride’s new deal appears to have gone down well with his teammates in Arizona.
Quarterback Kyler Murray showed elite chemistry with his favorite target last season.
And he was delighted to see the former second round pick sign on until 2029.
“Maaaaan! So happy for my dawg, worth every penny!” Murray wrote on X.
“More work to be done but a great day.”
