The Cowboys made a splash on the trade market on Thursday.

It was reported on Wednesday that the Patriots had received numerous trade inquiries on Milton, and the Cowboys won the battle.
Milton is a new backup for Prescott, as the Cowboys previously let Cooper Rush walk in free agency.
The 25-year-old Milton was a sixth-round pick in 2024.
He served as the Patriots’ backup last season and played in one game.
Milton’s appearance came in the regular-season finale, where he completed 22 of 29 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown.
And he added 10 rushing attempts for 16 yards, a touchdown, and a lost fumble in the contest.
The Patriots made the move to trade away Milton after signing backup signal-caller Joshua Dobbs to a two-year contract this offseason.
Milton joins Prescott and journeyman Will Grier in the Cowboys’ quarterback room.
The Cowboys haven’t signed free agent Trey Lance, who was on the team in 2024.
The addition of Milton comes as fans have shared their beliefs that the Cowboys should move on from Prescott.
“If the Cowboys can effectively trade Dink-and-Dak Prescott for Shadeur Sanders, with the #2 pick, they win the draft,” one X user wrote last week.
But that notion is unlikely, as the Cowboys signed the two-time Pro Bowler to a four-year, $240 million deal last September.
Prescott has the highest annually valued contract ($60 million) in the NFL.
Last month, the Cowboys restructured Prescott’s deal as his new contract carries the following salary cap hits: $52.9 million in 2025, $76 million in 2026, $70.8 million in 2027, $80,8 million in 2028, and $9.1 million in 2029 (void year).
Prescott is coming off a season in which he suffered a season-ending right ankle injury.
Milton could be asked to be a contributor for the Cowboys due to Prescott’s injury history.
The 31-year-old has missed 26 games due to injuries over the past three seasons.
The Cowboys could still look to add a quarterback in this month’s NFL Draft.
Jerry Jones’ franchise holds the No. 12, No. 44, and No. 76 picks in the first three rounds.
